How Xylitol in Gum Improves Your Oral HealthXylitol in gum can do so much to help improve a person's overall oral health. Improving your oral health is something that you should be concerned with and focus on.

Be able to smile with confidence when you do something as simple as selecting chewing gum that has Xylitol in it or one that is sugar-free in another way is a pretty big deal. Here is some information to keep in mind when you want to chew gum and are concerned about your oral health.

How Does Gum and Xylitol Help Oral Health?

When you chew, you are helping your mouth produce saliva, which in turn helps to reduce the number of bacteria that is found inside the mouth. It can also help to clear away any food particles that might still be inside your mouth. Chewing gum also helps to reduce the high levels of acid that might be found in your mouth which cause decay to form on the outside of your teeth. This, in turn, prevents cavities from forming in the mouth.

Xylitol helps because it is a substitute for sugar. You are not getting all of the sugar that comes with the gum that you're chewing when you choose one with this replacement in it. It is a great one to have because the gum still retains good flavor, but you're not leaving the stickiness and bacteria of the sugar behind.

Your oral health is important. Always make sure to work with our dentists for your cleaning and exams that are needed every six months.
